Welcome Speech

The “International Hybrid Conference on Applications and Implications of Artificial Intelligence in Education” is a pioneering endeavour at the forefront of educational innovation. Hosted by Plekhanov Business School “Integral” of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in cooperation with esteemed HEIs over the world, this conference offers a transformative opportunity to join forces with professors and students from other universities, working on a joint project as a part of a multinational and interdisciplinary team with the peers from Armenia, Belarus, China, India, Morocco, and Russia.

The use cases of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the 21st century is becoming increasingly prevalent, and its effect on various industries like education, business, economy, and society in general cannot be overlooked. The growing call for AI is due to its various implications for success. It helps in understanding newly developed technologies and how the latter can shape the process of knowledge production and improve decision making to stay competitive in today’s fast paced business environment. However, because AI has outpaced human beings’ capacity in absorbing, managing, and analysing big data, AI specialists confirm the potential of misuse and outline several pressing ethical issues about the misuse of AI, mainly privacy, security and surveillance, creativity and ownership, transparency and accountability, and job displacement.

In economy, the hierarchy of labours is primary concerned with automation. The shift from physical work that dominated preindustrial world to the cognitive labour market prevailing nowadays makes the economic system which is based on compensation unbalanced. These rapid technological developments inevitably bring multiple risks and challenges especially for young graduate and youth workers and shapes the order of the global economy, which have so far outpaced policy debates and regulatory frameworks. Engagement with the world’s technological leading forces can lead to positive educational, economic, and social outcomes for young people, as they prepare themselves for working life.

The present international conference provides a platform to researchers and practitioners from both academia as well as industry to gather with prominent policy makers, innovators of AI, education specialists and all those related to decision making to convey youth voices and engage in rich dialogue about the potential of AI to solve complex problems, empower businesses, develop career aspirations, and connect youth with successful roles models in the global marketplace.
